Learn how to drive compliance through accessible field tools, automation, and analytics with First Due's NFIRS reporting system.
Every day, you balance competing demands for your time. One demand that should never consume too much time is incident reporting. Whether you run 10 or 100 incidents a day, First Due can help. Our powerful Incident Documentation module is easy to use, easy to manage, and easy to access.
Documenting incidents in First Due is intuitive since it's organized like no other solution. The report is 100 percent NEMSIS compliant, yet it flows like an actual incident. Once you complete the incident report, the system will provide visual indicators if any required fields are missing or incorrect.
The first part of an incident report is the Response section. Here is where you document dispatch information, location data, and responding apparatus. Using First Due as your dispatching solution or with our robust CAD integration, dozens of fields will automatically populate, reducing clicks and keystrokes. You’re even able to capture personnel response to stations for callbacks and coverage during an incident.
Size-up is all about what you found at the incident, from the extent of involvement to the materials first ignited. Special studies, like FEMA’s COVID-19 being an incident factor, can be enabled. Capturing weather data is especially helpful for fire and hazardous materials incidents.
In the People Involved section, you can capture civilian casualties, fire service casualties, and, with our enhanced EMS module, document medications administered, procedures performed, and capture electronic signatures. This is perfect if your agency wants to measure EMS performance but isn't required to report to the state. However, if your agency is required to report EMS data to the state, we’ve got you covered with NEMSIS-compliant ePCR that fully integrates with our Incident Documentation module. The days of double data entry are a relic of the past.
The Operations section is where you document actions taken at the incident and by apparatus and personnel. First Due also enables you to capture NFIRS data elements and can automatically submit incident data to both NFIRS and NIFRS. Property details, fire cause determination, and vehicles and equipment involved are captured in the Information section.
Lastly, in Wrap-Up, crews enter narratives for the overall incident and for each apparatus if required by your agency. Once signatures are captured, the report is ready for your internal quality assurance check. Once an incident is authorized, it’s ready for submission to your state or directly to NFIRS.
Getting incident data into First Due is easy, but that's only one part of the story. We also provide you with tools to extract meaningful and actionable intelligence with our Reports module. Charts and downloadable CSV files enable you to assess incident type breakdown, agency and unit response compliance, percentile reports essential for accreditation, and even a heat map ideal for visualizing incident response concentration.
Completing incident reports shouldn’t consume your day. With First Due’s Incident Documentation module, incident reporting is accomplished right the first time—fast, easy, and complete. Data drives the 21st-century fire service; First Due puts you in the driver’s seat with our incident documentation solution.
